Every chapter of DELTARUNE goes through a lot of changes during development.
Chapter 4 was much easier to develop than the others, and nothing important was cut from the final release.
That being said, some tracks still exist from much older ideas that I've never shown before.
So, let's look at some unused and later modified tracks from Chapter 4!
Holiday Residence
I originally planned for the Holiday's house to feel a lot more like home. This was one of the many attempts at making music that fit that idea. This was used as the placeholder all the way up until I had gotten an idea of what the Holiday's house would actually look and feel like.
At that point, all of the concept art I had made for the house had been scrapped, and that's when I decided to make the final version of the music you hear in-game.
I still really like the song, but it wouldn't have worked with the current version of the Holdiay's house.
You can now imagine what it would've been like to hear this in Chapter 4...
...or not.
Forever Onward (Battle 2)
Originally, I planned for From Now On to sound a lot more like Rude Buster.
And then I realized how much I hated that idea.
So I tried to sound more original with the "newer" version, and it worked as the song up until the Sanctuary tracks were created. By then it sounded more fitting for Chapter 3.
And, instead of using it for Chapter 3, I just scrapped it completely.
Looking back, the newer version was a bit too fast for what I wanted in the end.
The Hunt (Chase 2)
Originally, the chase in the 2nd Sanctuary was supposed to have its own theme. In the end, the best I could come up with was this, which even still sounds a tad bit jarring to hear.
Plus, there's just too many second renditions of already made tracks! (lol)
